Honda is working on the new sports coupe. At least we think so. Our insider says that the vehicle should arrive in the concept form first and after that, they may reconsider the production ready model. Now, it appears that the automaker isn’t working on the S2000 successor, but on something completely different. Reportedly, they will introduce the 2018 Honda Prelude Concept sometime next year, while the real thing should arrive in 2019.
2018 Honda Prelude Concept: Exterior and Interior Styling
In case you don’t remember, the Prelude was largely based on the Accord. Moreover, the car was considered as a vehicle that can be both the sporty coupe for some casual weekend drive and the real “every day” automobile. However, as the drivers wanted something, well something more specific, Honda’s sports coupe was retired in 2001.
This time, the Japanese car manufacturer intends to build the 2018 Honda Prelude Concept with a new course. Namely, the new generation Prelude will be built for Younger drivers only. In a way, the future vehicle will be just funkier, more modern, more handsome Civic Coupe. The exterior styling should sport some amazing and aggressive cues, especially in the front. Compared to the current Civic Coupe, the 2018 Prelude will get a massive bumper and possibly a scoop on the hood. Of course, the interior styling might have more stylish details, likely two-tone upholstery with some bright colors, as well as the latest technology. Still, the sweet cab will be ultra-sporty at the first place.
Under the hood, the 2018 Honda Prelude Concept should offer at least two options. The base model will use a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine with around 160 horsepower. On the other hand, the optional 1.5-litet turbo mill will be capable of delivering at least 180 horsepower. Both units will be matted to a standard CVT or an optional six-speed manual gearbox. The naturally aspirated engine will power front wheels, but you will be able to pick the all-wheel drive model as well. The more powerful 1.5-liter turbo will have just the AWD configuration.
Honda’s sports coupe will be a very interesting option without any doubt. Especially when you take into account the affordable price, which should start at around $20K.
