The 2018 Honda Accord Coupe is going to bring a brand new approach to the America’s most beloved Honda moniker. Paired with its sedan sibling, the next-gen coupe has been treated with an efficient and radical total redesign that develops the brand’s recognizable design language into something beautiful. But beneath the beautiful skin, the 2018 Accord Coupe received some truly significant improvements and those are going to make the 10th generation really outstanding.

2018 Honda Accord Coupe: Exterior and Interior Changes

The appearance of the 2018 Accord Coupe is so beautiful because of the specific design approach envisioned as a reply to the previous model, as a reinterpretation of the recognizable styling elements, but some of the most notable things are brand new. While staying loyal to the brand’s style, the new coupe exudes sportier emotion with sleeker and more elegant finish. The bones that hold this beautiful body have been strengthened. Thanks to the bold re-engineering and using 54 percent high-strength steel, the automaker has managed to increase torsional stiffness by 34 percent, while bending stiffness has been increased by 24 percent. Needless to say, the car is lighter now and its handling, aerodynamics, and – in general – behavior on the road will be inevitably better. This is also going to reduce cabin noise as well.

Speaking of the cabin, the 2018 Honda Accord Coupe interior suffered some really elaborate changes. They have moved the seats in order to provide more usable space inside. Actually, everything inside the cabin that was eligible to the change has been changed – from the armrest and the back-seat heating to the contoured steering wheel and the infotainment system. And even the trunk has been enlarged. Truth be told, it’s going to be larger by 0.9 cubic feet (15.8 to 16.7 cu-ft), but this certainly can’t be something to destroy the overall impression of the latest coupe.

Engines and Transmissions

The 2018 Honda Accord Coupe is going to be offered with two engine options.

The first one is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine whose purpose is to replace the current 2.4-liter four-cylinder. Although noticeably smaller, this engine is going to provide better performance with its 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque.

Another engine option is going to be a 2.0-liter turbocharged mill that’s going to replace the retiring 3.5-liter V6 engine. This new engine will deliver 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque to the coupe’s front wheels.

Apparently, they are going to offer three transmission options. The 1.5-liter engine is going to be paired with a CVT, but the 2018 Honda Accord Coupe Sport is going to have a six-speed manual as an option. The 2.0-liter powerplant is going to deliver its power via the CVT or a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

As for the trims, the 2018 Honda Accord Coupe with a 1.5-liter engine is going to have six of them: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L Navi, and Touring. The version with the 2.0-liter engine is going to have four trim levels only: Sport, EX-L, EX-L Navi, and Touring.

Price

The entry price of the 2018 Honda Accord Coupe is probably going to be as low as possible since the automaker has a plan to expand its sales with the next-gen model. Higher trim levels might be a bit more expensive, but our estimate is that the pricing will be kept within the price range of the current model.
